This article intends to focus on an analysis on the forms of collective articulation of informal workers, specifically street workers and street vendors, who are disconnected from a wage-earning relationship that brings them closer to the experience of proper citizenship. Therefore, the objective is to analyze the constitution of the labor market in Brazil, marked by inequality and informality; then, it is intended to investigate the limits of social regulation of work in relation to informal work; and, finally, taking as a reference the experience of informal workers in Salvador-BA, it is intended to reflect on where informal workers are located, in order to demonstrate the centrality of the relationship between work and urban space, and how the construction of collective identity takes place in the articulation around disputes for work territories and the struggle for housing.
