The exploration of domestic child labor: coping and social regulation
Keywords:
Domestic Child Labour, Domestic Work, Child Labour, Late RegulationAbstract
This research aims to unravel the reasons why the regulation of the exploitation of domestic child labor did not occur in accordance with the norms foreseen for children and adolescents in the urban environment. There were difficulties for the regulation of the social protection of child labor, however, the situation was much slower in relation to child labor at home. Although it is clear that the events are not monocausal, as domestic child work is related to historical, cultural, economic and social perspectives, the main hypothesis is that the profound difficulties in prohibiting domestic child labor are rooted in resilient coping to incorporate social achievements into domestic work in the country, as well as in the regulatory process of child and adolescent labor. Starting from this premise and seeking to better understand this problem, the study proceeds to the impacts of this reality in the process of standardization of domestic work in Brazil. Subsequently, in order to correlate the difficulties, the analysis will be made from the late legislative provisions related to child labor, and from another perspective, in the evidences mentioned, through arduous struggle, to ensure the social protection system, aiming to prevent the exploitation of child domestic labor. In the end, when considering the entire historical context, the current scenario and obstacles that still remain in the country will be highlighted.
